Decisive steps needed to end bigotry, hate crimes: Raja Krishnamoorthi


Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has asked the US administration to take “decisive steps” to end bigotry and hate crimes towards Indian-Amer-icans and other minorities in the country. “There are various reasons for increase in hate crimes, but one is certainly the rise in divisive rhetoric starting with the top,” the Illinois Democrat said. Krish-namoorthi, who has initiated steps to galvanize his Congressional colleagues on the issue, said, “Starting with the immigration executive order of January 27, which targeted legal permanent residents, we’ve seen a number of steps taken by the White House on many fronts, which have sown confusion, concern, and fear among Indian-Americans and others.” The first-time Congressman said he has not seen any corrective measures being taken by President Donald Trump.
